Red-Flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum)
Red-flowering currant is a deciduous shrub native to the Pacific Northwest, commonly found along forest edges, rocky slopes, and open woodlands. It is one of the earliest flowering shrubs in the region, blooming before many trees leaf out.

Ecological Role
The flowers provide critical early nectar for hummingbirds and insects. Fruits support birds and small mammals. As an edge species, red-flowering currant contributes to habitat complexity and supports pollinator continuity during early spring.
